Hiking to the wonderfull Velete's waterfalls

Starting from your accommodations at 8:30 you will enjoy in a first part of  moving through the city to come out of it, where you will observe beautiful campestral landscapes, arriving that way to the nice girl's hill, a natural Lookout  where you will enjoy an amazing view of Baracoa's most emblematic mountains, then we will continue to Yumuri canyon which is  located at 6,5 Km to the south Yumurí community.

When you arrive to the Visitor Center,you will receive a detailed informationon about the characteristics of the  protected area,so you will take a boat trip about 20 minutes upstream though Yumurí River, where you will be able to enjoy the scenic natural values that the entrance of the cannon offers.  

Once this time was  passed, you will arrive at a small island, formed by the accumulation of sediments  delivered since many years as a result of  floodings of the river. 

Up to this moment the road will head us towards Velete's Community about  5 hours, where  you will be able to enjoy natural values as flora as and fauna, many of them are endemics.The observation of the landscape to get to Velete's Biological Station is going to be somethig that you will enjoy a lot. So we will get to the station where, at night,you will sleep to the next day.  Already in the Biological Station, you will know about the projects aimed to protect the endengerous species.  

At noon, you will enjoy a light refreshments, and from 1:00 pm  to  4:00 pm, you will visit a waterfall located in the Arroyo Guagüi, about 45 minutes of the Station, where you will appreciate the surroundings and you will take a swim in the very fresh and clear wáter of a natural pool. 

From 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm   you will take part in some activities related with the Agroturism as for example: Sharing with the farmers about their traditions, the cultural attention to the micro-nursery for the reproduction of endemic sorts of the area, planting  these sorts at the field, taking part in pets' breeding, etc. 

Once this time was  passed, about 7:00 pm, a dinner will be  offered, on the basis of typical dishes manufactured with Creole products, such as: The roasted pig, accompanied with cassava, yam, malanga and banana. Besides you will be able to taste of fruits like the pineapple, the water coconut, the banana fruit, sapodilla, orange, among other, in dependence of the epoch of the year. 

At night, you will take part in some  games like domino or chess, accompanied of traditional music ( during 1 hour ) and past this time you will accomplish the journey in tandem with the Specialists for the observation of amphibians, that will go all the way to the midnight approximately. Later on we will go to sleep and the next day in the morning you will taste a breakfast on the basis of fresh fruits. 

After that you will enjoy of going dawn  inside the canyon, 

The return to the city will make the road full of  satisfaction of being enjoyed an unforgettable experience inside the Canyon of  Yumurí.
